Care Guide
Caring for Your KANSHO Collar
Your KANSHO collar is handwoven from outdoor-grade paracord and set with a natural crystal stone, finished with vegan leather (PU) hardware. A little care keeps it looking — and feeling — its best.
After Every Walk
Wipe the collar down with a dry or slightly damp cloth to remove dirt and dust. Paracord weave tends to trap dirt and fur in its grooves — an old toothbrush works well for a quick dry brush-out. No need for water at this stage.
Caring for the Crystal
Natural stone is durable, but not indestructible.
- Avoid knocking the collar against hard surfaces — a dropped collar is the most common cause of a chipped stone
- Avoid sudden temperature swings, such as moving straight from air conditioning into summer heat
- Store the collar on its own, away from other metal hardware or hard objects that could scratch or chip the stone
If It Gets Wet or Muddy
- Use lukewarm water (under 30°C / 86°F) with a small amount of mild, neutral detergent — never laundry powder or harsh alkaline cleaners
- Gently brush the paracord with a soft-bristled brush, avoiding the metal hardware and PU leather strap
- Blot dry with a clean cloth, then lay flat in a well-ventilated area to air dry naturally
Never machine wash or tumble dry. Heat causes the paracord to stiffen and become brittle, and can weaken the adhesive holding the crystal in place. Air drying takes longer, but it's the difference between a collar that lasts and one that doesn't.
Vegan Leather (PU) & Hardware
- Wipe the PU leather strap with a dry cloth; avoid soaking it in water
- If the metal hardware tarnishes, dab a little white vinegar onto a dry cloth and gently polish the metal, then wipe again with a clean dry cloth to remove any residue
Monthly Check-In
Give the collar a quick once-over each month:
- Any fraying or thinning in the weave?
- Any looseness in the metal hardware?
- Any hairline cracks in the stone?
Woven construction can loosen gradually with regular pulling, especially with strong or energetic dogs. Catching wear early is always safer than a sudden break — replace the collar if you notice any of the above.
